Railing

Spiral Staircase

An attractive and safe spiral staircase requires railings on both the flight of stairs as well as to connecting surfaces or walls. Connection railings are often called ground railings, arch railings, balcony railings, etc.

Weland makes a number of different types of railings as standard, but if necessary, we can customise railings according to the customer’s wishes. Several railings are also stocked and can be delivered immediately.

Weland can also offer other railings for the immediate area where the stairs are positioned.

Standard Balustrade

Weland uses four different standard railings for spiral staircases. The choice of railing depends mainly on where the stairs are to be placed and whether children will be in the area where the spiral staircase is placed. The height of the railing is 1100 mm at the front of the step.

Railings are hot dip galvanized as standard.

Alternative railings

Railings with sheet metal, perforated metal and wire mesh are other variants of railings made by Weland. This type of railing is child-proof, i.e. the opening is a maximum of 100 mm. Also used in industry when the stair height exceeds 2 floors.

Standard Balustrade

Standard balustrade with one baluster per tread is often used within the industry. It may also be applied to escape staircases (where no children are present).

This balustrade can be furnised with 1, 2, 3 or 4 intermediate rails of flats 50 x 3 mm. This type of balustrade is not considered to be child-proof.

Crenellated Mesh

Railings with crenellated mesh plate, just like a railing with sheet metal, are a child-proof option with a maximum opening of 100 mm.

Raised railings

The spiral staircase can be fitted with a raised railing. This is a railing solution with high stairs and when there is a sense that the railing is too low. This usually occurs when descending the staircase.

The railing can be raised to a maximum of 2000 mm.

Landing railing/End railing

As standard the spiral staircase is equipped with an end railing at the rear of the square landing. Positioned from the centre tube to the periphery of the staircase.
