Straight flight staircases

Straight flight staircase

Our straight flight staircases are manufactured from steel and are used in industry or as safe evacuation routes in buildings. However, the staircases are also used in environments such as offices, residential buildings, entrances, public premises and the suchlike.

The straight flight staircases consist of four main components; the stringers, landings, stair treads and the railings. The staircases are delivered as separate parts that screw together easily during installation.

We can also manufacture straight flight staircases to match your requirements and needs. They can be delivered with a different surface treatment, different stringers, wooden, concrete or sheet metal stair tread surfaces. Alternative railings with glass, sheet metal or mesh infill.

Efficient manufacture

Weland's straight flight staircases are manufactured in an efficient production line. This produces a staircase that combines close tolerances with a large delivery capacity and a short delivery time.

  • Lightweight, attractive designs
  • High degree of accuracy during installation
  • Large delivery capacity
  • Shorter delivery times

Easy to assemble

Straight flight staircases are made up of easy-to-handle parts that screw together. The only tools you need are impact wrenches (box wrench or ratchet wrench). No welding is necessary during assembly.

Each individual staircase part is labelled with a marking tag to facilitate assembly.

Fixing and bracing

Straight flight staircases have different alternatives for fixing and bracing, depending on the size of the staircase. For small staircases, fixing angles may be sufficient. Larger staircases may need both support beams and brackets.

Weland will help with the right fixing and bracing.

Alternatives and options

Manufacture takes place in accordance with the Construction Rules issued by the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning, BBR, and is dimensioned in accordance with Eurocode with national application.

Railings

We manufacture the railings for straight flight staircases in many different designs, and we can adapt the product to match your needs. We have railings with intermediate rails, child-proof railings with round bar and railings with glass, sheet metal or crenelated mesh infill.

We can also provide surfaces near the staircase with railings in the same style, or supplement the staircase with a kick strip, which prevents objects from tumbling down.

Handrails

The handrails are usually integrated in the railing. However, the staircase can also be provided with round or rectangular wooden handrails,, extra handrail or banister.

Stair treads

The tread surface on the stair treads is normally manufactured from grating, with or without safety edge (which clearly indicates the outer edge of the stair tread). We can also manufacture treads and tread surfaces from slit plank type flooring, durbar plate, plank type flooring, smooth plate for carpeting, different types of wood, grey concrete and Terazzo concrete.

Landings

With the right landing, you guarantee that you obtain the best result and that the staircase blends into the surroundings. A step-off landing is usually sufficient, but we also make turning landings and balconies. For outdoor and industrial uses, the landings are normally manufactured from pressure-welded grating, with or without safety front edge. For indoor use, for example in homes and offices, there are many different materials to choose from, allowing the landings to match the staircase. If you have need, we can also make sure that the staircase can connect to other types of platforms or balconies.

Stringers

We normally manufacture our straight flight staircases with stringers made in WUC profile. However, we can also manufacture the central stringers for extra wide staircases and the stringers from flat bar or U-beam for those times when a WUC profile cannot be used in the flight of stairs.

Protective cages

The straight flight staircases can be supplemented with protective cages, to prevent access by unauthorised persons. The cage doors are opened with a key from the outside and knob from the inside.

Project planning

It is easiest to let us look after the planning and design. Our design office has long experience of planning and dimensioning straight flight staircases. Send a construction drawing, and we will look after the rest.

We dimension and draw the staircase so all you need to do is check the dimensions and approve the drawing prior to the start of manufacture.

Design help

Make design and modulation of the straight staircases easier by downloading CAD files of loose stair treads and landings in grating. Also available as visual.
