Can be constructed to great height

Spiral staircases can be built very high without any extra supports, provided bracing can be arranged, for instance against a wall. If there is no adjacent wall, bracing can be carried out with vertical support legs outside the staircase circumference.

Secure

If a person looses balance on a spiral staircase, they are more likely to fall against the balustrade thereby checking their fall and giving them the chance to grab the railing or the newel post.

Escape/Rescue

Since spiral staircases are comfortable to descend, an escape can be carried out quickly. Even rescue on a stretcher can be carried out comfortably.

Easy to erect

The spiral staircase is supplied in knock-down components for assembly on site. The only tools required are a drilling machine, a spanner (either fixed or ratched) and an Allen wrench.

No welding is required during erection. Comprehensive assembly instructions are included with every delivery. We have produced a film as an assembly aid that can be downloaded.

Quick Delivery

Weland spiral staircases for evacuation and industry can be supplied with extra short delivery times provided that standard components are used.

Railings

Weland produces four different standard railings for spiral staircases. The choice of railing depends mainly on where the stairs are to be placed and whether children will be in the area where the spiral staircase is placed. The height of the railing is 1100 mm at the nose of the step.

Handrail

As standard the handrail is made of stainless steel tube. The handrail is attached to the balusters by a clamp.

Stairtreads

Standard stairtreads are available in in two different designs, grating and durbar plate treads.

Landings

Different types of landings are needed for the stairs to be functional and to blend into the environment. As standard the spiral staircase is fitted with square landings and if necessary also an intermediate landing.

The stairs can also be connected to other types of platforms or balconies.

Weland also produces other levels, such as mezzanine floors, etc.

Railings

Railings with sheet metal, perforated metal and wire mesh are other variants of railing made by Weland. This type of railing is child-proof, i.e. the opening is a maximum of 100 mm. Also used in industry when the stair height exceeds 2 storeys.

Handrail

Weland spiral staircases can be fitted with both extra handrails as well as inner handrails.

Stairtreads

Weland also produces staircases with concrete steps.

Balconies

In some cases you can combine the spiral staircase with a balcony all according to the customer’s needs.

Protective cages

In order to prevent unauthorized persons using the spiral staircase, it can be supplemented with a full-circle protective cage or a quarter-circle cage at the bottom.

Every spiral staircase is individually drawn, the drawing is sent to the customer for approval before manufacture commences.
